NBC29, Z95.1 and The Daily Progress are asking you to join them in lending a helping hand to neighbors in need. To help, drop non-perishable food donations in marked Food Bank barrels at Kroger stores in Staunton, Waynesboro, Harrisonburg and Charlottesville Nov. 14 through Dec. 12. Or buy one of Kroger’s pre-packed “Feed the Hungry” boxes to donate.
2013 Governor’s Holiday Hoops Classic Nov. 15 – Dec. 15
James Madison University is competing against Hampton University, Virginia Commonwealth University and Virginia Tech in the Governor’s Holiday Hoops Classic Nov. 15 – Dec. 15. The goal is to raise food and funds to help feed Virginia’s hungry during the holiday season. JMU is asking the community to support them in the competition by donating food and money between Nov. 15 and Dec. 15. To donate, click here. Then, support the JMU men’s basketball team at the Richmond Coliseum on Dec. 21 (time TBD) as they compete in a special Holiday Hoops Classic basketball game vs. Hampton University to raise awareness about hunger in Virginia. Valley Businesses Give Back • Nov. 18 – Dec. 18
Valley Businesses Give Back is a friendly competition between businesses in the Shenandoah Valley to raise food and funds for area families during the holiday season. Employees of Valley businesses are encouraged to join the cause to help the 35,000 Valley residents who seek our help each month.

Twelfth Night Benefit Concert • Jan. 5
The 8th annual Twelfth Night Benefit Concert, held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5 at the Staunton Church of the Brethren, will feature the choirs of Olivet Presbyterian Church and Staunton Church of the Brethren. Prelude at 6:30 p.m. Freewill offering.
Augusta Expo Monthly Market & Yard Sale
While hosting their Monthly Market and Yard Sale, Augusta Expo is helping the hungry, too.
