Hunger Action Month

The only way we'll solve the problem of hunger is by taking action together. We're asking you to join us in this national movement to alleviate hunger during Hunger Action Month in September. To learn how you can get involved, click here.

UPS Helps Feed Hungry Neighbors

During Hunger Action Month in September, The UPS Store on Port Republic Road in Harrisonburg will donate one food item for every package paid for and shipped at the store!

DCCU Shred Days: Oct. 3, 17, 24 & 31

Bring your personal documents to have them securely shredded by DuPont Community Credit Union along with nonperishable food items to DCCU locations throughout the Valley in October. For dates and locations, click here.

Scouting for Food: Oct. 24

Area Boy Scouts will be sweeping neighborhoods for food donations during their largest annual food drive. Bags will be distributed in the Shenandoah Valley and Charlottesville on Oct. 17, and you can leave your bag of donated food on your doorstep on Oct. 24.

9th Annual Virginia Hunger Symposium: Oct. 26 - Oct. 29

Blue Ridge Community College will host events and activities that educate and promote awareness about hunger across central and western Virginia. This year's theme is the Hunger Games. Featured events include an Empty Bowl Dinner and a Chopped Cook-Off with local chefs.

While hosting this monthly event, Augusta Expo is helping the hungry, too.  The event occurs on the first Saturday of each month.  Admission is $1 or non-perishable food donations for the Food Bank.  For every dollar you give, you will provide four meals to neighbors in need.  For more info, visit
