What you need to know about the changing SNAP benefits
- SNAP Emergency Allotment benefits ended Feb. 16, 2023.
- Beginning March 2023, all individuals and households receiving SNAP will see benefits decrease.
- The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank is here to support our community (guests, supporters, and organizations). We are standing stronger, together.
- The Food Bank has plenty of food to meet the needs of our community.
Get help
- SNAP households should prepare accordingly for the decrease in benefits.
- If your SNAP benefits don’t last you through the month, you can get groceries from a food pantry. There is plenty of food for everyone.
- Maximize your SNAP benefits using the free 2-1-1 help services.
- SNAP recipients are encouraged to visit the Virginia Dept. of Social Services (VDSS) website or call the temporary information line 1-855-635-4370, Monday – Friday from 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. TTY assistance is available by calling 800-552-7917 or 866-246-9300. SNAP participants can contact their local department of social services or visit CommonHelp for questions or account information.
- Feeding America has information about important SNAP changes.
- Please apply if you need SNAP. SNAP benefits are available to anyone who qualifies. You will not be taking from another if you receive SNAP.
- Take home more fruit and vegetables when you use your SNAP EBT or P-EBT. Find a market or store near you.
